Optical properties of Au-Hf thin films

چکیده

The optical properties of thin films intermetallic Au3Hf were experimentally investigated for the first time, which display significant negative ε′ in visible and near infrared regions, hence are clearly plasmonic materials. In contrast to similar alloys, such as Au3Zr, express more values lower ε″ across most wavelengths (370–1570 nm) investigated. fabricated by DC magnetron sputtering at a range deposition temperatures, from room temperature 415 °C, annealed different vacuum levels. mostly formed combination Au3Hf, Au2Hf Au4Hf phases when deposited below 400 exclusively phase above indicating key conditions isolating this phase. stable 10−8 Torr, but again 10−6 Torr oxidised changed into mix Au-Hf phases, suggesting resistance oxidization may be an issue unencapsulated applications elevated temperatures.
